| Born in 1972, in Quan Zhou,
China, Xu Jian Yang is well known for his monumentalized
and energetic floral paintings which blend ancient traditions
with Western styles of oil painting.
His works are a testament to his understanding of composition
and medium. His broad and lively brushstrokes along
with a deliberate and emotive use of colour create an
immediate effect upon the viewer.
Although Xu Jian Yang neither draws nor paints from
actual floral models, he succeeds in extracting their
