Win Henstock
is a Canadian Plein Air artist and owner of the beautiful
Win Henstock Gallery in Oakville, established 2006.
She was born in Great Britain and moved to Oakville
with her family in 1974.
In l994, Winstock
moved to Laguna Beach, California, where she opened
a prestigious gallery specializing in Impressionist
works. During this time, Win studied with some
of California’s most notable artists. Win
has also studied with famous British watercolourist
John Yardley, whose works are on display in her Oakville
gallery.
Win is noted for
her Plein Air style – literally, “The art
of painting directly from nature” or “on
scene”. It is one of the most difficult
and respected styles of painting. Plein Air style
has artists paint directly from nature. Win reflects
what she sees and conveys this to the viewer through
her use of colour, values, and lighting effects.
Whether she paints landscapes, seascapes or people in
natural surroundings, Win successfully captures the
essence of the moment.
Win is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the
California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painters’
Association, the Southern California Plein Air Painters’
Association, the Society of Canadian Artists, the Arts
and Letters Club of Toronto, and the East Central Ontario
Arts Association. She paints daily and exhibits
work in her Oakville gallery, along with other notable
artists. She is also a member of Plein Air Canada,
the subject of one of her gallery's recent exhibitions.
